Just some inks from a poster I did of one of my story ideas waaaaay earlier this year. Normally I don’t throw up my bare bones inks cause for some reason I just don’t think they look complete but whatever.
This has been a story that started out as a singular one, but has grown in my head to be my second only: story trilogy (next to my post-cybrerpunk opus LIVE GEAR).
Basically humans live in an land known as the Kashmir empire, governed and controlled by a ruling class of dragon/reptillian-like creatures known only as the ”Orsi”. Like the Jim Crow south of the U.S. humans are segregated and treated as second class citizens, and many are victims of abuse, discrimination and violence by their much larger counterparts. The main character Yancy joins a growing resistance after he looses his sister and parents, to finally bring the Kashmir empire down.
Archaeopteryx hipster girl I drew a while ago and slapped some limited colors on. Insert ”stock popular phrase” and it looks like we’re done!
Did some futzing around with my persona yesterday, and wanted to try out a color scheme on him. Turned out pretty decent! Especially that eye. That red eye might just be canon now.
2013 Colors + 2012 Inks = ehhhhhh… Hahaha it doesn’t matter if I like it or not, I got way too much other stuff on my plate to worry about than spend more time tweaking this. Enjoy a random naga woman! She’s got snake parts for daaaaays son~
Don’t laugh at her fortunes or skip out on paying cause she’ll fucking eat you.
Hooray! Some art again finally!
These were just some character designs I hammered out while I was on about fleshing out one of my many concepts. This one’s called "Laissez Faire" (based on the hands-off approach of governing the markets). It has to do with agents working for a super-rich firm that gets paid by companies to enter a sister dimension tied to ours, and kill creatures in it that effect the stock market (in order to skew prices).
I also try to tackle an uncommon character dimension with each story and in this one I wanted a titular woman Muslim of Middle-Eastern descent: thus Hira at the top was the result of that. She rocks that Hijab, pretty much slays 30 ft tall monsters every day, and goes home to a 1.4 million paycheck. Come at her bro.
Bentley’s her boyfriend, and Moses is a techie who runs the diagnostics for the portal between our world and the sister dimension.
SPX 2013: “Operation: Crystal Dragon”
HEY YALL! As those of you who have hung around here for a while already know, but some of you newbies might not: I normally don’t do too many text posts as I intend to keep this a predominantly art blog.
However, I do reserve these sorts of posts for pretty significant announcements and I just wanted to remind folks: IF ANYONE’S GOING TO OR HAS A TABLE AT SPX (Small Press eXpo) SATURDAY AND SUNDAY IN NORTH BETHESDA, MARYLAND I WILL BE THERE. I’m gonna be hanging out in close company with http://surfdog2000.tumblr.com, http://trumpetsharkcomics.tumblr.com, and http://jetgreguar.tumblr.com in an art convention weekend blitz that will no doubt be hella fun.
I won’t have wares to sell this year as I don’t have a table besides, and I’ll mostly be meandering about and getting a feel for the place with it being my first time attending (I’ve still got my nose to the grindstone on several ventures — from a choose-your-own-adventure style illustrated text game, to several one-shot comics). HOWEVER I will have snazzy new business cards for anyone who wants to get my info/a baby sample of my art in their hands, and they are totally FREE.
FIND ME AT THE CON OR MAYBE IN LOCAL EATERIES/BARS!? I’LL BE THE REALLY TALL BLACK FELLOW WITH A LONG PONYTAIL OF DREADLOCKS AND A GOATEE. I’LL BE CASUALLY QUANTUM-PHASING IN AND OUT OF A POCKET DIMENSION WHEN I SEE ART WAY COOLER THAN MINE (which will be all the time). THAT’S HOW YOU’LL KNOW IT’S REALLY ME.
SEE YA THERE~
ALSO: If anyone’s wondering about that title, my borderline obsession with military-esque terms and infrastructure leads me to code-name ventures/events I undertake for fun and to help motivate me sometimes.
Yet another illustration from my comic idea “GRUX" that I actually did for some updated business cards. It turned out decent but there’s still a few parts that just didn’t quite come together as well as I envisioned them, but ah well haha.
So enjoy the scene where Ferdel’s been driven so far off the edge from the death of his wife Urza, that he declares the equivalent of alien jihad on humanity and the earth. Oh…nothing like the birth of a tragic villian~
Today is my 24th birthday, and this picture was something I did when I was a little stressed and not feeling to good. Certain things in my life aren’t really going that well right now, plus I already don’t have a real big enthusiasm for my birthdays (as elaborated on in an earlier post)soooo…JUST GONNA LET THIS ONE COME AND GO I GUESS.
Big hopes for 25 next year haha. Thanks for all the well wishes~
Well ladies and gents. Its been one year to this exact day since I joined Tumblr! So I thought that my 101st blog post should be used to celebrate this little anniversary. I honestly can’t even say how grateful I am to everyone who’s done anything from given one of my posts a like, to the full-on follow treatment for this blog. Ironically this blog’s birthday is only 2 days ahead of my physical one, so only a couple more until I get a little older too!
I’ve made new friends on here, found new artists, reconnected with some folks I used to know from other art sites, and continued to follow close and respected friends!
I’m not into the numbers game, but to every person in that little counter following this blog who sees this post: THANK YOU, and I hope the art coming in the future year(s) will continue to inspire and excite even more than it already has~!
A buncha weirdos I drew one time when I was trying to simply draw whatever came off the top of my head without thinking about the design or anything too much.
They aren’t for any story or idea and don’t have names, just some random peeps standing around.
Often times, I’ll conjure up single frames or stills “images” of scenes from my stories in my head while I’m working them out. This is one such result of that that I had the itch to sketch out. It’s from my story “GRUX” and and is during the alien uprising in Fort Jarosinski. Here we see a unit of armed fort guards (comprised of humans and one Human-Gruxxor hybrid called a Gaal) moving in to (try) and quell the violence.
The letters on the assault shields reading “H.G.P.F” are for the Human and Gruxxor Protection Force.
Still more older work from a couple of years back I think?
This here is an excerpt from one of my more larger and ambitious comic stories called “GRUX”, which has a group of aliens (known as Gruxxor) discovered on our moon’s undiscovered moon (named Grux) coming to Earth and not taking to the relocation so well.
This is just a showdown scene at the Alaskan Fort Jarosinki where the Gruxxor Ferdel makes his full cross-over from notable threat, to full-on evil antagonist while preparing to fight C.I.A agent Caesar Harris.
More creature girl designs from a scrapped version of an existing story I had going a year or so ago.
If you don’t see the imagery right off the bat, I was listening to Dan Deacon’s “Paddling Ghost” when I draw Abigail. Hurr hurr.
A sketch I did last year back when i wasn’t sure what gender I wanted my alien Fresno to be, and was thinking about leaving him ambiguous.
He’s still just as friendly and well-manner though.
This is actually an older work of mine from about a year or two ago. I really just felt like drawing one of my favorite things: cyborgs. During the time I was pretty fond of the facial aesthetics (and the butt) but the staying power for me has really been in how I laid out the spine details.
In case you were wondering, her left arm is a giant housing unit for a cluster of surface-to-air “fire and forget” style missiles. Some which she’s already obviously fired.
